A Bit About Me
Hey there, I'm Nicole!
I have always been a word-nerd, and growing up, I spent a lot of time with my nose buried in a book. In Primary School my version of rebellion was using the designated 'diary writing' time to write my own creative stories instead (which often included my own expert illustrations of the main characters).
My passion for words continued through to High School, and I thrived in English, Classics and History. I had fully intended to just pursue a History degree at university, until someone suggested I give Law a go- because I could write good essays, so of course I should be a lawyer!
I completed a Law degree with Honours, and an Arts degree in History and Economics at the University of Canterbury. I was treated to a test of resilience on my second day ever of university with the February 2011 earthquakes in Christchurch, so my first year experience was incredibly unique! I later had the amazing opportunity to complete my final semester overseas on an exchange to Uppsala University in Sweden. Safe to say I still have the travel bug and I am looking forward to more overseas adventures in the near future!
After graduating, I worked in various legal roles throughout New Zealand, predominantly in criminal law and human rights. While this work was often challenging, it was incredibly rewarding, and I have some rather interesting work stories now as a result!
In 2021, I completed my Master of Laws, specialising in International Law. I am passionate about human rights issues, and a lot of my research focused on legal developments in New Zealand and whether these aligned with international human rights standards.
Before embarking on my journey of self-employment, I relocated to Central Otago, New Zealand. I am now lucky enough to spend my spare time exploring the bike trails and sampling wine from all of the beautiful wineries that surround me. Other hobbies of mine include reading books on all things personal development, listening to true crime podcasts, and hanging out with other peoples' dogs.
